New To AkasaJewelry.com?

Discover Elemental Empowerment through handmade jewelry

made from the Earth’s natural stones and the world’s symbology.

I create jewelry as wearable art using semi precious stones and precious metals. Also reflected in my art is my fascination with the world’s diverse ancient and indigenous cultures as expressed through personal adornment.

I enjoy creating modern artifacts by combining semi-precious stones with ancient symbols for the purpose of personal empowerment. I love combining organic form, ethnic symbols, and modern urban designs.

I use only natural stones with natural color created by the Earth.

It is known that there are some color effects that have universal meaning. Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and include red, orange and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort (yellow and orange) to feelings of passion (in the darker red variety).

Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, green and purple. These colors are often described as calm and serene (blue and green), but can also call to mind feelings of moderation or indifference, (along the purple variety).

Several ancient cultures practiced using colors to heal or chromotherapy,. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as color therapy or colorology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment in conjunction with other therapies.

Collector Piece auction!

Rare! Pixie Turquoise on New Lander Turquoise nuggets.

TRIBAL CHIC

Measurement: 19 & 1/2” in length
Himalayan Thai Silver Beads
Sterling closure

The Pixie turquoise mine is located in the Crescent Valley in Northern Nevada. This mine hasn’t been worked until recently, sitting untouched for twenty years. Pixie turquoise is yellow to mossy green and also occurs in some blues. A gold mining company owns the claim to this mine, and eventually it will all be swallowed up by the gold mining operation, therefore, Pixie turquoise is quite collectible.
New Lander turquoise is mined in Crescent Valley, Nevada is mostly green, orange, and yellow, and a little blue. It is known for it’s wild patterns and color characteristics. This turquoise is so very unique that it is hard to find the same type twice.  It consists of turquoise mixed with calcasiderite, varasite, and faustite

Turquoise, the “fallen sky stone” hidden in Mother Earth, has been valued by cultures for its beauty and reputed spiritual and life-giving qualities for over 7000 years. It is a true gem of the centuries. A long time ago someone noticed a clear blue line running through gray rock, and saw the imagery of sky and water in stone, and from that time on, turquoise has been cherished above all else in creation – turquoise, stone of sky, stone of water, stone of blessings, good fortune, protection, good health and long life.

Turquoise is sacred to both Native American and oriental traditions. It is associated with the sky, and bringing sky energy to earth. It can help promote honest and clear communication from the heart. It is also said to protect against pollution in the environment, and to bring abundance. Turquoise can also help speed the healing process, and is known as a master healer stone. It is very powerful for grounding and protection also. Turquoise is associated with the throat chakra primarily. It is the birthstone of December and signifies success.

Elsewhere, turquoise may come and go with fashion. In Native America turquoise is more precious than gold, an enduring expression of Native American Indian culture.

Special Feature: Auction Piece

When I do auction pieces sometimes I like to reach deep into the far corners of my creativity.

This edgy piece was made exclusively for the Redondo Beach Education Foundation Gala.

With all of the budget cuts being made in California

the education of our children sadly pays a price.

This is my way of contributing to the funds that hopefully can help keep various programs in place

Like music.

This piece sold for $180

It is Chinese Turquoise/carved Pi Xiu Jade skull prayer mala with tassel.

Liberation Of Change

lotusawakening

Change is a central feature of life. It can be exhilarating, frightening, exhausting, or relieving. It can spark sadness or happiness, resistance or grasping. Some spiritual traditions equate the world of impermanence with suffering. For these, the solution to suffering is to transcend the world of impermanence.

But suffering is not ingrained in the world of impermanence nor is it the result. Suffering comes about when we cling. When clinging disappears, impermanence no longer seems to bring about suffering.

It is possible to find ease and grace in the world of change. We see old age, sickness and death. We notice that things change. The seasons change, society changes, our emotions change, and the weather changes. Seeing that change is inevitable helps us to let go of clinging to how things are or our resistance to change.

It is possible to trust the mind of non-clinging and then find our liberation within the world of impermanence.

And sometimes recognizing that we are all equal and subject to aging, sickness, and death is the basis for compassion.
